Geri Halliwell is hoping to land the coveted job

Geri Halliwell will reportedly sign a £400,000 contract if she impresses as a judge at the opening auditions of The X Factor in Liverpool tomorrow.

The former Spice Girl would replace Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland, 31, after she quit earlier this month.

'We will be watching her like a hawk at Liverpool and fingers crossed it will go well and she'll be signed,' says a show insider.

'We're not talking to anyone else.'

Geri and a string of stars will be guest judges on the programme, but bosses are said to be keen to sign a permanent panellist for the live shows.

The 39-year-old, who was booed when she stood in for Dannii Minogue, 40, in 2010, is said to be 'bursting at the seams with excitement'.

'Geri is not just a guest judge - she is our judge-in-waiting,' the source tells The Sun

'We want her to do it and she wants to do it.'

Geri would join Gary Barlow, 41, Louis Walsh, 59, and Tulisa Contostavlos, 23, on the panel.
